Global Food Manufacturer

A venerable global manufacturer with over $7 billion in annual revenue, this PistolStar customer wanted to reduce the glut of calls received by the Help Desk for password resets.  The customer installed PistolStar’s Password Power 8, which enables end-users to access Lotus Notes and Domino by authenticating with their password for Microsoft Active Directory, thus allowing self-service password resets via Active Directory and eliminating the need to recover the Notes ID file password.

Global Manufacturing Software and Services Company

A global company providing enterprise and manufacturing resource planning software and services to the world’s leading manufacturers engaged PistolStar for two separate projects to resolve issues with password changes and multiple logins.  By implementing PistolStar’s Password Power Plug-Ins, including customized plug-ins supporting specific applications, the customer was able to provide reduced or single sign-on for its end-users, unify password policies and reduce password-related Help Desk calls by 50-65%.

Banking and Finance

PistolStar’s banking and financial services industry customers can be found among North America’s top organizations and the Fortune 500.  While these customers are large organizations, their licenses vary from 1000 to 150,000 users.  The security and password-related issues they are trying to address can vary as well.  However, the customers in this industry do have some common goals, which are simplifying access to enterprise applications, enabling corporate-wide access, and optimizing password security to protect sensitive data from access by unauthorized intruders.

Energy

Energy industry customers are most concerned with physical security and operations, especially penetration of their perimeter because it is controlled by software.  Unauthorized intruders who gain control of critical systems can create havoc with ramifications for human health and safety and environmental integrity.  Therefore, password security is probably of greater importance in this industry than in others and it is chief among all password issues.  Also, reducing Help Desk calls is paramount to ensuring resources are devoted to the more critical security issues that need to be addressed.  

Insurance

Information needs to move quickly in the insurance industry, and for that reason, enabling single sign-on is a high priority because it allows users to get to the numerous enterprise applications they need to perform their jobs without repeated password prompts or the need to remember multiple passwords.  Also, administrators have fewer passwords to manage, which saves time and decreases the number of password-related calls to the Help Desk.  Nonetheless, attempting to achieve single or reduced sign-on can pose a challenge for insurance companies, as the applications they use tend to be dissimilar.
